BT Interurban Bus Service

PLEASE NOTE: BTI service will only operate through August 23, 2013.
BEGINNING AUGUST 26, 2013, TEXAS STATE UNIVERSITY WILL NO LONGER OPERATE THE BTI SERVICE TO KYLE/AUSTIN AND NEW BRAUNFELS/SAN ANTONIO.


 

There are two routes serving the Austin-San Antonio corridor along IH 35, which collectively provide transportation between the Campus and City of San Marcos and these two metropolitan communities. Service stops in Austin are linked in several locations to the Capital Metro bus system; Service to San Antonio is linked to the VIA bus system at the Randolph park-and-ride.

Ticket Locations:

On Campus:

  • Information Desk at the LBJ Student Center
  • Copy Cats at the Nueces building

Off Campus:

  • H.E.B. in San Marcos, Kyle, and New Braunfels

Fares: ticket or cash

  • $8-12 cash to Austin or San Antonio each way (two-three zone fare)
  • $4 cash to Kyle or New Braunfels each way (one zone fare) 
  • $50-55 ticket purchased in advance at one of the above locations. This ticket provides 20 one-zone rides.
  • Reduced fares to Austin on Saturdays for general public
  • Free fares to Austin on Satudays with Texas State ID

BTI features:

  • WiFi is available on the bus
  • Bike racks are available as a first-come, first-serve basis (bring a good lock in case you have to leave your bike behind.)

NOTICE REGARDING OFF-CAMPUS PARKING: BT Interurban bus services DO NOT PROVIDE PARKING AT OFF-CAMPUS LOCATIONS IN SAN MARCOS, KYLE, NEW BRAUNFELS, SAN ANTIONIO, OR AUSTIN. SEVERAL BUSINESSES IN THE AREAS AROUND SOME BUS STOPS WILL TOW UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLES.  BE OBSERVANT OF ALL BUSINESS’ SIGNAGE REGARDING PARKING RESTRICTIONS.
