About Bobcat Tram

General Route Information:

The Bobcat Tram system is operated for Texas State students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is designed to alleviate campus parking demand and traffic congestion. Services are available from perimeter parking on and near campus via Campus Routes and from densely populated areas of San Marcos via City Routes to serve this purpose.

This system is supported by students, who pay a bus fee at registration each semester; faculty and staff who purchase parking permits also contribute a small portion of their annual parking fee to operate the system.  Service is operated on class days and during finals; no service is offered on weekends, non-class days or official university holidays.

BT Interurban Service between Austin, Kyle, San Marcos, New Braunfels and San Antonio is offered to Students, Faculty, Staff, and the General Public at an additional cost.  This service is supported primarily by farebox revenue from those using the service.

This service is operated on most weekdays, (252 days a year) with service along the IH 35 corridor between Austin and San Antonio with service connections to Capital Metro bus and rail in Austin and VIA bus service in San Antonio.

All buses are air-conditioned and meet Federal ADA requirements. Students needing special accommodations should contact Auxiliary Services prior to the beginning of the each semester. Route and schedule information is available at:

  • Dispatch & Operations: First Transit , 222 Wonder World Drive, phone 754-8993
  • Administration: Auxiliary Services, LBJ Student Center, Room 3-2.50 & the LBJ Student Center Information Desk (next to bookstore)
