Transportation Servcies provides shuttle service to Texas State students, faculty, and staff in San Marcos. Services levels and routes are determined based on demand, student density, and available resources. Local public bus service, (including ADA accessible demand-response service), is provided by the City of San Marcos. The Bobcat Tram system, (operated by Texas State Transportation Services), is provided for Texas State students, faculty, staff, and visitors and is designed to alleviate campus parking demand and traffic congestion. Services are available from perimeter parking on and near campus via Campus Routes and from densely populated areas of San Marcos via City Routes to serve this purpose.

This system is supported by students, who pay a bus fee at registration each semester; the general public who pay a fare to ride the BTI bus service between Austin and San Antonio; and faculty and staff who contribute a small portion of their annual parking permit fee. Service is operated on class days and during finals; reduced service is available on Saturdays during the fall and spring semesters. Note: Saturday service is not offered during the summer semester or during semester breaks. No service is offered on Sundays or official university holidays; no City or Campus service is offered between semesters when class is not in session.
If you ever have an issue with the performance of any of our route service, please call customer service at 512.245.5555 to report your concern. It is always helpful to have the three digit bus number, (Printed on all sides of the bus exterior); the bus route number or name; and the time of day when you were riding. This basic information will help us address your concern in a prompt efficient manner.
Always plan to arrive at least 5 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time. Our buses are GPS enabled; you can find out how soon a bus will arrive at your bus stop by checking the Real Time bus information available online.
