Bicycle Education Program

Bike Maintenance 101 (BM 101)

The focus of this class will be flat repair (i.e., wheel, tire, tube removal/replacement and tube patching)

Cost $5 per person - cash or check
           (one-time fee good for the semester)

Location: The Bike Cave; Colorado building

When:  2nd Monday of each month beginning September 10, 2012 through December 10, 2012

 

Rebuild-a-Bike

The Rebuild-a-Bike (RaB) class dates and times will be announced at the first BM 101 class on September 10, 2012.  Space is limited to 4 students, and they must be at the 1st BM 101 to sign up.

Each semester the Bike Cave will offer a basic training course designed to teach students how to perform basic bicycle maintenance and repair.  The course is hands-on; you will be taught how to disassemble and replace all major components on your bicycle. 

Students may either choose to

1) Bring and build or rebuild their own bicycle over the course of the class

2) Select a bicycle from Bike Cave repairable stock to use as their project.  Persons selecting a bicycle from Bike Cave stock may donate the bike to the Cave for resale or have first selection to purchase the bicycle they build upon completion of the class.

  • Brake maintenance & system adjustments
  • Derailleur system maintenance and adjustments
  • Stem and handlebar adjustments
  • Cable & cable housing maintenance

Learn Much More, including:

  • Bottom Bracket and Crankset overhaul and replacement
  • Replacing broken spokes
  • Truing wheels…

 Cost:  $25 per person; cash or check
