City Routes & Maps

Reading Day ("Dead Day"):

 

Service for City and Campus routes during Reading day (May 1 and on May 2 until 5pm), will be the same as the Friday service schedule.  BTI service will continue to operate at full service during these times.  

Full Service will resume on City and Campus routes at 5pm on May 2 and will continue at full service, (including Fridays), through the end of final exams.

Semester Break:

There is no service on City and Campus routes, (between May 10 and June 1).  BTI service during this time will be the same as the reduced service schedule for Austin; and the Friday service schedule for San Antonio.

Summer service for City, Campus and BTI service will be posted on May 14th for service beginning June 4th. 

 

Spring Semester 2012 (January 17 - May 9)

City Route Service and bus stops (MAP)

General Information for Spring 2012 Routes:

There are eight Bobcat Tram City routes serving the San Marcos area: Mill Street, Post Road, Blanco River, Aquarena Springs, Wonder World, Ranch Road, Wonder World Evening and Aquarena/Blanco combo route service.

All Bobcat Tram City routes originate, (depart), from the Quad Bus Loop across from the Music Building. Additionally, CARTS fixed-routes provide service connections to their route system from this stop and the Commons bus stop on Bobcat Trail; CARTS service connections to and from campus are provided at no charge by showing your Texas State I.D.  Call 800.456.7433 for more information on CARTS route service in San Marcos.  

Finally, BT Interurban route service is provided to allow for additional non-auto trips between campus or the city of San Marcos and San Antonio, New Braunfels, Kyle, and Austin.This service departs from the LBJ Student Center (the Austin bus departs in front of the parking garage and the San Antonio bus departs by Jackson Hall.)

20 – Aquarena Springs          
This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order:

 

Jowers, Shalamar Apartments, University Heights, Uhland Road, The Zone, River Oaks Villas, Riverside Ranch, Los Cucos, and Bobcat Village.  The outer layover for this bus, (used if the bus is running ahead of schedule), is The Zone; the bus may park and wait here from 1-3 minutes to assure that all buses remain on schedule.

 

21 – Blanco River           

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order: 

 

Jowers, Shalamar Apartments – only after 11am, University Heights – only after 11am, The Grove, Heights 2, The Verandah at Copper Beech, The Old Mill, and Bobcat Village.  The outer layover for this bus, (used if the bus is running ahead of schedule), is Heights 2; the bus may park and wait here from 1-3 minutes to assure that all buses remain on schedule

 

22 - Mill Street            

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order:

 

Bobcat Village West, Village Green, Aspen Heights, Verandah on Mill St., Copper Beech, The Old Mill, Bobcat Village

 

 23 – Post Road            

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order:

Jowers, Bobcat Village west, The Outpost, Post Road Place, Village Green and Bobcat Village.  The outer layover for this bus, (used if the bus is running ahead of schedule), is The Outpost; the bus may park and wait here from 1-3 minutes to assure that all buses remain on schedule.

 

24 – Ranch Road           

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order: 

Sessom @ Comanche, (between the Health Center and Mitte), Highcrest Apartments, The Edge, Dakota Ranch, Executive Townhomes, Crest Avenue, Langtry Apartments, Sonora Trail, Sage Wood, Hillside Ranch and Stonegate Apartments.  The outer layover for this bus, (used if the bus is running ahead of schedule), is Executive Townhomes; the bus may park and wait here from 1-3 minutes to assure that all buses remain on schedule.

 

26 – Wonder World            

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service in the following order:

Comanche @ Mitte Art, San Jacinto Hall, Frost Bank, San Marcos Station, (linking service for CARTS, Amtrak, and Greyhound), the Villas at Willow Springs, (next to Texas Roadhouse), Cabana Beach, Vantage, University Club, Cedars, Park Hill, Florencia Villas, Garcia’s, and Sewell Park.  The outer layover for this bus, (used if the bus is running ahead of schedule), is Florencia Villas Apartments; the bus may park and wait here from 1-3 minutes to assure that all buses remain on schedule.


27 – Wonder World Evening             

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service stops identical to the Wonder World route with additional evening stops at the end of the route in the following order:  

Clarewood, Knight’s Inn and Day’s Inn, (these stops are served by CARTS between 7:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m Monday through Friday).

 

28 – Mill-Post combo                       

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service stops to the Post Road route and Mill Street route in that order.  .

 

29 – Aquarena/Blanco combo                    

This route departs from the Quad Bus Loop providing service stops to the Aquarena Springs and Blanco River routes in that order. 

 

Night Bus routes

These routes provide late evening service Monday through Thursday to most Bobcat Tram bus stops! There are now four buses departing from the Quad Bus Loop every 45-50 minutes beginning at 8:40 through 11:50 PM. Each route serves a different zone in town, (east, west, north or south); most BT City and Campus daytime bus stops are served by one of these bus routes. Night bus routes also provide service to campus for all buses departing campus until 11:05 PM; the last route leaving campus at 11:50 PM is outbound service only.

City Route Service Overview:

  1. Monday - Thursday service begins between 6:57-7:05 AM with last buses leaving campus between 7:45-7:55 PM.  Service is provided during all class days and during finals.  Reduced service levels are provided on Friday and usually end by 5:15pm.
  2. Night routes offer combined City and Campus service using four bus routes providing service between most Bobcat Tram bus stops and campus between 8:40-11:50 PM.  The last departure from campus at 11:50 PM is outbound service only, (there are no passenger boardings once buses leave campus at this time; this last departure is designed to return passengers from campus to their final off-campus destination).
  3. Saturday service provides combined bus route service from most City and Campus route stops to the Student Center.  Passengers can transfer between any of 6 bus routes at the Student Center for travel around the City of San Marcos or on the San Marcos marketplace Route with service to HEB, Target, the Outlet Mall, Sam's Club and many other retail areas; Route 46 provides service to Southpark Meadows in south Austin offering additional retail alternatives and connecting service on Capital Metro.  All Saturday route services are free to students, faculty and staff; you must show the driver your valid Texas State I.D. to ride to Austin free of charge on Saturday.
